Salvador da Bahia - Land of Hapinnes!

Originally built in the later 1870s, the Lacerda Elevator is a symbol of Salvador, connecting the upper and lower districts of the city center.

As one of the most important and busy port cities in the 17th century, Salvador developed many forts and lighthouses along its coastline. Farol da Barra was the first lighthouse built in all of Brasil and maintains its importance today as a famous landmark and nautical museum.

The Church of Nosso Senhor do Bonfim, or simply the Church of Bonfim, was built in the mid 1700’s by the Portuguese. Today, the church is among the most famous in Salvador, and a symbol of the syncretism so present in Salvador.

The Abaeté City Park is one of the largest in Salvador and is home to Lake Abaeté and its surrounding sand dunes.

Coconut and coconut milk forms an integral part of Bahian desserts and cuisine!

The Monte Serrat Fort, another symbol of Salvador’s history as a port city, offers one of the most beautiful sunsets and views of the bay.

The Saint Mary Fort in Barra, together with neighborhood’s other fortresses, protected what is today one of Salvador’s most popular beaches.
